Light in the Darkness
At LITD we dive into the paranormal & supernatural realm from a Christian perspective. We ask "why" and "how" on as many topics as we can and seek truth for the questions that aren't discussed at church.
Light in the Darkness
52: Dark Waters & Vicki Joy Anderson - Spiritual Warfare pt. 2 (preview)
Vicki Joy Anderson and “Dark Waters” James Williams are back in this Patreon exclusive members episode to finish up our conversation about spiritual warfare.
Our first discussion revolved around:
-What spiritual warfare is
-Why we engage in it
-How we fight
And today we’re back to continue talking about how to fight, we we know it’s time to go to war, and who we fight with and against.
In this episode we discuss warfare in the mind - vein imaginations, doubt, fear, and anxiety. We discuss the state of the world and signs to look for to begin going on the offensive with spiritual warfare, and we discuss our enemies and our spiritual partners (angels) who we fight along side.
This is a master class from two folks who have gone through the spirit warfare meat grinder and have come out stronger for it!

Hello listener, You're listening to a preview for a members-only episode. If you'd like to hear the full episode, well, you can sign up for our Patreon at patreoncom slash LITD pod or clicking the link down in the show notes. You can join for just $7 a month. That's a good deal, Danny. What can you even get for $7 a month? That's a good deal.
Speaker 2:Danny, what can you even get for $7 these days? Not much Corey, not much, nothing that's good for the soul or mind. Demonically infused coffee comes to mind.
Speaker 1:Subscriptions to services that fill your heart and soul with bile. Shots fired, shots fired, direct hit, dear dear me. You sunk the battleship. Well, we will give you the first taste for free, dear listeners.
Speaker 2:But we promise you you'll be back for more. We'll see you soon.
Speaker 1:We gonna get you hooked on that stuff.
Speaker 3:One thing that we have to do is we need to start recognizing that spiritual warfare, an attack launched against you, could actually be something as simple as a stray thought planted into your mind that snowballs into despair, or snowballs into anxiety, or snowballs into vain imaginations where, all of a sudden, you're bickering or arguing with someone because you've gone down this long path of assumptions.
Speaker 4:Behold, I've given you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. If you find yourself in spiritual warfare and you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that is your insurance policy. In warfare, everything wants to convince you that it's going to kill you. I've had spirits tell me we're going to kill you today. You ain't killing nothing, homie. You know what I'm saying. I belong to the Lord.
Speaker 2:Well, here we are again with two of our favorite friends, Dark Waters and Vicki Joy Anderson. Welcome to both of you.
Speaker 3:Thank you Good to be back.
Speaker 4:Thank you guys, Good to be back hanging out with you.
Speaker 1:Man, I can't tell you how much good it did my heart. We did our last interview and then I was texting with Vicki a couple weeks later and I was like, how do you feel about scheduling the second one? She was like oh, I just got off a call with James earlier, we making friends, I love it.
Speaker 3:You created a monster.
Speaker 4:You have no kind of clue what happened, huh.
Speaker 3:They have no idea, man no idea what they're responsible for this is awesome.
Speaker 2:This is a good kind of Frankenstein. This is good, oh man.
Speaker 4:All kind of spiritual hits, putting the spirit around on stuff All kind of spiritual hits putting the spirit around on stuff.
Speaker 2:Well, I guess last time we were in the middle of correct me if I'm wrong how do we fight, when we kind of landed that plane. So I mean, am I missing anything here, or should we kind of just jump back in to how do we fight?
Speaker 1:You know, I'm trying to remember exactly where we left off from each of them. We left off talking about fasting, and Vicki and James had some great thoughts and a little bit of do-si-do-ing around fasting and it was really powerful. So how else do we fight in spiritual warfare? What other tools do we have available? How are we coming to this battle, vicki?
Speaker 4:you want to go first?
Speaker 3:Sure, sure. So I don't know if I touched on this the last time, but one of the things in my life and this is going to be really helpful to people. You know, in the realms that I walk in, I deal with a lot of people who have experienced a lot of trauma since childhood. So the people with sleep paralysis or UFO abductees, victims of satanic ritual abuse, things like that, and so I'm dealing with people that have been immersed in a lot of dysfunctional situations and trauma most of their life. And so what's unique about that group of people?
Speaker 3:Spiritual warfare looks a little different to them. When you are accustomed to every single thing, including the kitchen sink, being thrown at you at all times, and I mean, we're talking about abuses and atrocities that most of us can't even imagine. Talking about abuses and atrocities that most of us can't even imagine. The typical spiritual warfare is literally not even going to resonate on their meter. I mean, and it could be huge things. I lost my job and I got in a car wreck and you don't bat an eyelash. So unless you're in that realm, you're not going to understand.
Speaker 3:And so one of the things that I really want to share with people and I learned this from a friend of mine who actually counsels PTSD and trauma victims for a living. She's a biblical counselor and I remember one time I was just really poo-pooing something that was going on in my life, like no, no, and I wasn't trying to be like you know strong, like I was just like yeah, I got to deal with this thing or whatever. And she's like Vicki, that's warfare. And I'm like no, and I said it's just life, you know, blah, blah, blah. And what she taught me that was really eye opening for me is that one of the ways the enemy attacks and continues to attack and continues to kill, steal and destroy from people who are already really traumatized is that they become so desensitized to trauma that they don't even stop and pray when it's happening to them because they're so used to it, they've just grown accustomed to it.
Speaker 3:And so one of the ways that we have to fight spiritual warfare is to even recognize it when it comes. And I think because of where we're at as a culture, because there's been so much disclosure, because there's really no taboo topics to talk about anymore and there's a lot of things being revealed now in the media and in our fiction and our pop culture and on podcasts that a lot of people are expecting spiritual warfare to be these huge things where you're going to recognize that your whole life is going to get obliterated and it's going to be car wrecks and cancer and deaths and irreversible diseases and all that. And so one thing that we have to do is we need to start recognizing that spiritual warfare, an attack launched against you, could actually be something as simple as a stray thought planted into your mind that snowballs into despair or snowballs into anxiety or snowballs into vain imaginations, where, all of a sudden, you're bickering or arguing with someone because you've gone down this long path of assumptions. And where we need to be even more careful with the vain imaginations and the implanted thoughts or the intrusive thoughts, is that technology is now catching up to that, and not only are we going to have the enemy, but we're going to have technology against us. We can not underestimate the importance and the power of taking every thought captive Too many of us.
Speaker 3:Our minds are bogged down. It's like a 12-track recorder in our head. We are on social media all day, we're on our phones, there's TVs blaring, there's radios in the car, we're talking to coworkers, talking to family. We've got our own thoughts. There's so much competition for our attention, even within our own mind, that to try to take a thought captive it's actually difficult, because you actually now have to pull those thoughts out of a chaotic din of a hundred other things screaming over it and the spirit is a still small voice. And he still is a still small, small voice. And just because our culture gets louder and louder and louder, the holy spirit's not going to adjust his voice to accommodate our culture. So if you want to hear the still small voice, you have to be listening for it and you have to be taking those thoughts captive.
Speaker 4:Wow. I said during a prayer that I don't I don't want to get in the Holy spirit's way, so I'm just going to talk and trust that what I'm being told to say is understandable. So, to piggyback off what my amazing sister Vicki has said, because you guys don't know how amazing this woman is, yeah, in the realm of the spirit it's voices. Communication is not really voices, it's communications via thought and images. And I can tell you this because there was a time period where I prayed and I would literally ascend and I would speak and I moved to a point to where, when I'm praying verbally and I get to a certain point, there is no speaking. It's me seeing and projecting things. And so when you start talking about taking thoughts in a captive, understand two things there's nothing hidden in that realm of the spirit. That's why I tell people all the time when you leave your body and your spirit comes out of the body, you're going to know the whole truth, but it's going to be too late for the truth to make you free because you've already left your body. And so what ends up happening in spiritual warfare is that spirits, because they communicate via thought and via imagery. If you ever think about it. When you say, take a thought into captivity, those thoughts literally come into your mind as an image. That's why they're called vain imaginations. And so you're sitting there and you're just chilling, doing your work and next thing you know, you have a thought of like your wife cheating on you, or you have a thought of your bills not getting paid. It's not just like words being projected in your head, you're actually seeing it play out, and that's why it's so important for all thoughts to be brought in captivity. And so then we start thinking about well, how do I bring my thoughts into captivity? You can't. That's the problem that you run into. So those thoughts have to be given to the Lord, and this is where Vicki is talking about the Holy Spirit. Ruach Elohim, my friend, my big homie, is what I call him. For me, when it starts to happen, I'd be like, hey, listen, I'm having a little trouble over here focusing, because I'm thinking about this, this, this, this, this. I'm going to need you to take over this, because this is too much coming at me at once. Can I give this to you? And I'll say I'll give it to you in exchange for peace, I'll give an exchange for an idea, I'm just constantly giving it away because I've come to an understanding that I truly can't handle it. And so the most important thing is to realize that if you are in submission to the Holy Spirit, and that's the most important thing that you can actually deal with those thoughts and I don't care if they project and stuff from a laser beam but if you understand how thoughts work and vain imaginations work, now you disassociate yourself from what you're seeing. And what Vicki is saying is a trick of Satan. Pause, rewind.
Speaker 4:Let me say this I think we need to understand why all spiritual warfare happens. It's because Satan wants to hurt God's heart. I mean, that's his whole thing. Homie is pissed off, he wants to hurt daddy, and so every time we do something, it pains father's heart. Every time he has to punish one of us and judge one of us, it pains father's heart. When he had to sacrifice his son, satan was like, yeah, I got him. He gave up his only son. I got him, I know he can get in his butt, whooped.
Speaker 4:But that's why, when you notice, when Jesus is on the cross, the Lord turned his back on him. He had to right my father. Why have you forsaken me? So Satan wants to hurt daddy's heart.
Speaker 4:He knows he can't win, he knows he already lost, but he don't care. That boy is a kamikaze pilot out here in these streets, he don't care. So every time he brings us into sin, every time he brings us into doubt, every time he brings us into fear, he's just like, yeah, I'm hurting you. It's like poking God's big toe with this pen. It's like pow, just poking him, agitating him. Pow, pow, pow, pow, and that's all he wants. So understand that.
Speaker 4:Going back to the concept of thoughts, what ends up happening is when you're not hearing from the voice of the Holy Spirit. You don't have the knowledge and understanding that this is how these thoughts, thoughts. And what ends up happening is when you're not hearing from the voice of the Holy Spirit, you don't have the knowledge and understanding that this is how these thoughts come in, that they're projected as images from the realm of the spirit, and that's how spirits communicate. Then you fall victim to it, because you're just sitting there, going and I've been a victim to it before just riding, going on about my day and I'm happy, smoke my cigar, chilling. Then I just have a thought and an image of a person that I didn't like and I say you know, I'm like why am I mad about this? This was 20 years ago and I'll catch myself. Man, that's not me, I don't really care, that's not me. And so what ends up happening is, like Vicky said, you become so busy with things that you have to do that it just piles on, and if you don't catch it, it's one thing, then two things, then three things, then four things, and next thing, you know, you have this mountain of imaginations that are there to destroy you and that's just opening a doorway for everything else to come in Once you get into it, because it'll bring you into fear, or it'll bring you into anger, or it'll bring you into lust, or it'll bring you into whatever. It's going to bring you into lust, or to bring you into whatever is going to bring you into. That's what it's trying to do. And so we really have to be mindful of those vain imaginations.
Speaker 4:And I think the next thing I'll say is I think we should talk about the insurance policy of spiritual warfare. Right, luke 10, 19, king James Version. Behold, I've given you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and here's the insurance policy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. So if you find yourself in spiritual warfare and you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you're functioning with the Holy Spirit, that is your insurance policy, and especially the last part of that, and nothing by any means will hurt you. The thing is, in warfare, everything wants to convince you that it's going to kill you, everything wants to convince you that it's going to destroy you. I mean, they do their best to convince. I've had spirits tell me we're going to kill you today. And I'm sitting there like did I just hear that we're going to kill you? I'm like Lord, is that a yeah, what can I say? What you want to say? You ain't killing nothing, homie. You know what I'm saying. I belong to the Lord. And then I get mad. I'll give you a perfect example.
Speaker 4:I'm praying for my city against child abduction. I'm on the phone you guys know Dave Hughes. I'm on the phone with Dave Hughes. We're praying against child abduction, the spirit of child abduction. And this growling starts on the phone and it's, and I keep praying and at first I'm thinking you know, it's going to go away. And I'm hearing Dave trying to talk over it. So I was like I rebuke you, I hang up the phone, call Dave back.
Speaker 4:So Dave, you heard that, yeah, he says man, that was wild. I said, okay, well, let's finish the prayer. Won't you come in agreement with the press? We come in agreement. He said what you going to do? I said I'm going to the highest point I could find, and me and this, since this spirit wants to contend, I'm finna, go contend with it, because that's all it was. It has a right to contend. So I went to the highest spot I could find and I praised and I sang and I worshiped and I made decrees and declarations. There will be no Amber Alerts as long as I'm in this city. And guess what? There ain't been none. There's going to be no child abductions, but it's one of those things you have to understand. That by no means will anything harm. You Understand it, believe it and walk in it and you'll be fine. All right, I'm going to digress and leave it alone for right now.
Speaker 1:No, I love that and I love how you're touching on the next thought that came to my mind about all this. We're talking about taking thoughts captive. That's another way we engage in spiritual warfare. And you're talking about the fact that you were on the phone with Dave, and I'm looking back at the times I've encountered spiritual warfare and I think a really good point is that you need a band of brothers and sisters that you can come to and you can war with. Just yesterday, we were talking about the fact that the enemy sends thoughts and images, but sometimes he'll just send heaviness, sometimes he'll just send feelings.
Speaker 1:Yesterday I'm at work and I'm just like I'm recognizing the fact, like, why am I grumpy? Like I'm a pretty jovial, happy guy? It's not often that I am I grumpy, like I'm a I'm pretty jovial, happy guy. It's not often that I just get grumpy and I, even at the beginning of the day, I'm like Daniel, I'm just grumpy and I slept well, I can't point to anything else, and he's like it's just all over the place in here. So a few hours go by and it's just I'm not able to shake it, not able to shake it, not able to shake it, not able to shake it, not able to shake it, and I come to Daniel and we pray about it, we break it off and it just it's gone like that.
Speaker 1:There's been other times I've called James. Like James, I'm just, I'm going through this. I just feel this is going on in my body, this is going on in my mind. This is and it's just like heavy and it's like I'm on the verge of depression, like, and it's it's clear to me that this is spiritual warfare and it's just. He sends different, different feelings. It's not even necessarily a thought. Sometimes he will send feelings to oppress you, to smother you, to squash you, and having friends in your life that can recognize that and speak to it and say that's not you that's going on. That is something else, because Vicki talked about recognizing when you're in spiritual warfare and you need believers, you need friends who are acquainted with some aspects of this, that can point to it in your life and say you know what? That's not Corey that's struggling with that, that's the enemy sending these things. Now let's get in prayer about this and let's just deal with it.
Speaker 2:And, honestly, to be specific on it, like really specific in that prayer, when we were praying, we named all the things we were feeling, all the gross stuff, and we asked the Lord to take it, because that's something somebody else in my life taught me. You know, you can sacrifice these things to the Lord. And then, in this place, I was like Father, can we have peace, can we have productivity today? Can we have just confidence in knowing we're here and called to do what you've brought us here to do? And it's funny, it was like what 30 seconds later? And everybody was laughing and smiling and there's joy and there was peace. Thanks, by the way, for that.
Speaker 4:I'll say this, if we step up to a hundred thousand foot view and understand that spiritual warfare is itself a doorway to a closer relationship with Christ and a closer relationship with the Lord. That, combined with the insurance policy of spiritual warfare, is that, behold, I've given you power to tread upon scorpions, scorpions and serpents and scorpions, but by no means will anything harm you. Then you power to tread upon scorpions and serpents and scorpions, but by no means will anything harm you. Then you come to the understanding that and this is just me speaking where I've come to the understanding that there'll nothing come through unless daddy allows it to come through. I mean nothing. And so if you have that confidence in him and you understand that it don't matter what I'm going through and it makes sometimes it don't make no sense. You're like, well, man, my mama died of cancer, my son got molested no, no, no, no. I understand what you're saying. But if you can, if you can have the mindset that nothing you go through was not, that hedge wasn't open and you didn't get hit by it, unless the Lord allowed it, then you can go to the Lord and you can find every solution to every problem there is. But you have to come to terms with it and for people it's very difficult to come to terms with. For someone who was molested at a young age, it's very difficult to come to terms with somebody who had a family member get murdered or shot or lost a parent to cancer or whatever it was. It's a very difficult thing to come to terms with. But at the end of the day it's all to make you perfect to work and function in his kingdom. And I submit this to people listening the more traumatic it has been, the greater and more powerful you will be when you come into the knowledge of his kingdom. I'm talking about juggernaut running through walls, leaping over buildings, king Kong, powerful, functioning in the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 4:But the challenge is moving from that point of trauma to the point of acceptance and really the point of being submissive to God. And it's a challenge for people. And I'll say this if you take baby steps, you'll get there extremely fast. But the longer you sit in that state of I wouldn't call it pride, but denial, anger towards the Lord, hatred towards the Lord because of what you've been through, the more you're going to suffer. And his intent is not for us to suffer. His intent was for us to actually function in his kingdom and actually for people to learn from our traumas, our issues, our mistakes and to make this world better. Like in the scripture it says I think it's 2 Corinthians. He told me to write down 2 Corinthians 5, 20.
Speaker 4:It says we've been made ambassadors of Christ. When you really think about it, do you know of any ambassador that actually fights a war? You ever thought of any ambassador that fights? You don't? Ambassadors represent they speak out, they carry the word and they go to different territories. But also ambassadors. If you're in an embassy, which is where an ambassador resides, if we're in the American embassy in Botswana, when you come on that ground, that's American soil right. And so, essentially, we as Christians, we as ambassadors, everywhere we go we bring heaven with us, because that's what we are, we represent heaven.
Speaker 4:And so when you get to that point and this is the point you come through through spiritual warfare.
Speaker 4:I'm saying this because I want people to understand you're not going through what you're going through for no reason.
Speaker 4:You're going through what you're going through because the Lord wants to bring you into a position where not only are you super useful for the kingdom, but you represent heaven, point blank, period. I know stuff is pulling on you in sleep. You see an alien. He wants you to represent heaven, point blank period. So when you walk into a room, the whole room lights up. People are excited. They're happy. The person who's having a bad day? They hold everything melted away. When you speak to a person, they're going to just reveal the problems in their life to you and tell you what's going on, because their heart is open to your heart and you're going to pour into that person's heart and that's the end result of what you are going through. And what you're going to go through is you get to a point to where you represent him everywhere you go and that's just like from a hundred thousand for you, because I know we all talk about spiritual warfare and you know there's this, there's that, but the end of the road is a very, very powerful place with the Lord.
Speaker 1:Well, that's all you get for a preview.
Speaker 2:You know that feeling in the pit of your stomach. You got right now that rock, that weight, because you're like what were they about to say? Where was this about to go? What was the answer to that question, the finished thought Well, it's not impossible to know the answer to that. In fact, you're merely $7 away from the thing you want, corey. Tell them one more time how can they get the thing they want?
